Nike Phantom Venom Pro FG Firm Ground Soccer Cleat Review

The Nike Phantom Venom Pro is designed for powerful, precise game-winning strikes. Ridge on the instep help creates spin to control the flight of the ball. Flywire cables and a flexible HyperReactive plate provides stability and traction needed to release at any moment.

Undoubtedly, everyone has been focusing on the Elite tier of the Phantom Venom, but I will talk about the Pro model. I will go into detail with a review about these cleats and whether it’s worth the ‘modest’ $120 price tag.

Nike Phantom Venom Pro FG Firm-Ground Soccer Cleat

Nike has done a brilliant job with keeping the Nike Phantom Venom Pro aggressive and sleek looking, a look that attracts players of a young age for sure. Furthermore, the look is very low-profile, probably thanks to the lowcut style that’s becoming less common with cleats. It has a colour combination that attracts players of all ages.

The aggressive part comes from striking “elements” and bladed shaped soleplate. The HyperReactive soleplate is the same as the Elite models, which offer exceptional value. The forefoot is very flexible but remains stable, which I appreciate. Chevron-style studs are extremely aggressive. In my estimation, this cleat is more aggressive than the Hypervenom and Mercurial Pro models. The HyperReactive soleplate gave me tremendous traction in all directions. Moreover, I think it’s a really good soleplate. There is no pressure on the back, but it is quite slim.

The upper is a bit overly padded. As I continued to break the cleats in overtime, it began to soften up of course but didn’t lose the padded sensation on the touch. Furthermore, the K-Lite upper is quite responsive and felt to solidify right as I struck a ball for a shot. As Phantom Venom Pro is the first cleat to have a Kanga-Lite upper, I’m delighted with it. Nike did not use Kanga-Lite throughout the whole upper, though. There is a seam covered by fuse material where the K-Lite and another type of synthetic meet. This second synthetic is basic from Nike, and they call it NikeSkin. It’s a mesh-based synthetic and gets the job done.

The overall width of the Phantom Venom Pro is rather slim. It fits the form of its predecessor, the Hypervenom. On either side of the foot, you may experience cramps and discomfort because of how tight these cleats fit. Despite how many times you try to loosen these cleats, the slim fit would not give up, which is excellent if you have slim fit feet but a significant problem if your feet are wider. That is the only major concern about the Phantom Venom Pro.

  • Synthetic material is durable
  • Instep ridges help create the spin for precise strikes
  • Foam pods wrap your heel
  • Hyper reactive outsoles provide the right amount of stability

  • Poor moisture protection
  • Not easy to clean

The Nike Phantom Venom Pro delivers top-quality performance while still being an affordable value option.

These cleats have HyperReactive plate flexes for multidirectional traction The cleats remind me of the top tier Total 90’s we loved and used to wear about seven to eight years ago. I recommend the Nike Phantom Venom Pro for players who belong to recreational youth and adult leagues that play one to two times per week.
